The engineering sector provides employment for more than 5 million people and generates over £850 billion in annual revenue in the UK. That’s big. That’s a lot of jobs - which you could be involved in recruiting!

Engineers usually work in teams, in all sorts of places indoors and out, in energy and utilities, construction and manufacturing as well as in many other specialist sub-categories such as civil, roads, bridges, design, electronics, electrical etc.

Large companies and corporations comprise nearly half of all UK employment opportunities, with the other half being made up of (obviously!) smaller, often specialist firms. That said, there is a serious shortage of engineers of almost all types and current projections suggest this will not be alleviated in the near future. This skills gap has created a huge demand for recruiters who can winkle out passive candidates to fill roles that are often required to fulfil the demands of major contracts.

With such an enormous market, and of course the stiff competition created by the skills shortages, if you are prepared to invest the time to become familiar with the skills, qualifications, experience and personal attributes required for success in the engineering industries, then a career in recruiting in this sector may be perfect for you.
